When you have an erection, and your penis leans or curves slightly to one side it can be a concern but don’t worry. It is actually perfectly natural for the penis to have some curvature during erections.
If you experience any pain or difficulty having sex with your penis, then you should always speak to your GP or visit your local genitourinary clinic.
It is possible for a penile curvature to be caused by Peyronie’s disease, a disease which causes the penis to become curved when erect.
The symptoms of Peyronie’s disease are as follows:
- Loss of girth or length in the penis
- The penis looking misshapen
- Pain during sex, usually during erections
- A curve in the penis during erections
- A thickened area or hard lump in the shaft of the penis
Should you experience any of these symptoms, then you should speak to your GP immediately for a diagnosis.
What can I do if I have Peyronie’s disease?
Should you receive a diagnosis of Peyronie’s disease, there are many options available to you. Moorgate offers both surgical and non-surgical treatment for Peyronie’s.
Our injection technique works by disrupting the collagen plaque that causes the curvature. It is injected into the plaque by a qualified Doctor and is then followed up with a penile modelling procedure which you will be taught how to do at home.
Our surgical technique is called the Stage technique. This is a significant advancement on the classic Nesbit technique which minimises the risks of complications in the straightening of your penis and has a 99.1% straightening rate compared to the 76.2% rate of the Nesbit procedure.
