Can Viagra increase Penis Size?

penis size viagra Can Viagra increase Penis Size?

Yes and no. The little blue pill is overrated. Ever since the accidental discovery of Viagra in 1998 so many claims have been credited to it. People think it’s the solution to all men’s problems, from erectile dysfunction, stamina, penis size, fertility etc. Men think they will become sexual demigods after taking Viagra. Before answering the above question, it is important to understand what Viagra is, and how it works.

A little background

Viagra was initially discovered by three Pfizer scientists, Andrew Bell, David Brown, and Nicholas Terrett as a treatment for cardiovascular diseases. However, during the clinical trials, they were surprised to find that the patients were having an improvement in terms of their erections.

Pfizer immediately saw this lucrative opportunity, the lack of an erectile dysfunction pill in the health care industry. In 1998, March 27 the US FDA approved the use of Viagra as an erectile dysfunction drug.

What does Viagra do to your penis?

Normally, when a man is sexually stimulated the brain sends nerve impulses to the penis. Upon receiving the nerve impulses, nitric oxide is released in the penis blood vessels. Nitric oxide is a chemical messenger which stimulates the enzyme cGMP. cGMP is responsible for distending blood vessels within the chambers of the penis, causing them to relax thus increasing the flow of blood in large amounts to the penis. If the penis is receiving sufficient flow of blood, the penile chambers would become firmer and more turgid which adds up to a long-lasting erection would. However, under natural conditions, the erection will not last that long because of the enzyme PDES which breaks down cGMP.

After taking Viagra the same process occurs but the difference is that Sildenafil citrate, the main active ingredient in Viagra is a PDE5 inhibitor. Just like any other PDE5 inhibitor, sildenafil works by binding to the enzyme PDE5 and inhibiting its action.

PDE5 belongs to a group of enzymes that facilitate the breaking down of cGMP which in turn directly lowers blood flow in the penis. When Sildenafil binds to the enzyme PDE5 inhibiting it from working, hence PDE5 would not be able to breakdown cGMP. The result is more cGMP in the blood vessels of the chambers of the penis which allows relaxation of the muscles in the cavernous body of the penis and more blood flow into the penis. The more the blood flow in the penis, the longer the erection would last.

The Final Verdict

Yes, Viagra increases your penis size temporarily but not permanently. After taking Viagra definitely your stretched flaccid penile length increases. Many men have reported that they get very firm, hard erections and their wives can feel that the width is increased. This is because of the effect of the drug on the relaxation of the penis blood vessels which in turn allows more blood flow to the penis.

Viagra is clearly only meant to help with erectile dysfunction. Anything else that you come across are myths and false claims. If you don’t have erectile dysfunction, there is no need to try Viagra.
