When Does the Penis Stop Growing?

Penis Stop Growing

Wondering if your penis is fully-grown? Or if there’s still time for ‘improvement’? Don’t worry, you’re definitely not alone. This question is typed into google over 20,000 times every single month. Penis growth is a very common concern amongst young men. In fact, when approaching your early 20s, it’s only natural to worry about the size of your manhood and whether it’s reached its peak.

So, when does the penis stop growing? And what counts as a full-sized member?

It all depends on your hormones

Penis growth is controlled by hormones. During puberty, hormone levels rise – and, as a result, the penis starts to grow in terms of both length and girth. The biggest growth spurts typically occur between 10-14 years old – following which, it can continue for several years (at a slower rate) until around 21 years of age.

But keep in mind, everyone develops differently. For some, penis growth can start as early as 8 years old. For others, it may have started much later in their teenage years. Some men notice a steady progression, whilst others experience sudden changes in size (followed by periods of no growth). Some have a fully-grown penis by the time they’re 18, whilst for others, growth can be seen until their early 20s.

It just depends on you and the duration of your puberty – and, despite their concerns during adolescence, most men reach a ‘normal’ length and girth eventually.

What classes as a fully-grown penis?

Research has shown that – in the UK – a flaccid penis is around 9cm (3.7 inch) long on average, whilst an erect penis typically measures 13-18cm (5-7 inch). Smaller than you thought? We guessed as much. Here at Moorgate Andrology, we find that most men overestimate the size of a fully-grown penis (leading to misconceptions, and unnecessary worry, about the size of their own).

Of course, these are only ballpark figures. Your penis, when fully grown, could be slightly smaller or larger than this. It can vary greatly from person-to-person. But, unless you’re over 21 and you fall well below this average, there’s not usually a cause for concern.

Can I make my penis bigger?

Online, you’ll find hundreds of articles on how to encourage penis growth and make your manhood bigger. Some of the most popular suggestions include frequent masturbation, penile clamps and pumps, pills, vitamins, lotions, specific diets etc. But, the truth is, none of these will work.

If you’re unhappy with the size of your fully-grown penis, the only way to make it bigger is by getting in touch with a professional andrologist – such as Moorgate Andrology.

We currently offer two options:

  1. Non-surgical penis fillers – whereby we inject either hyaluronic acid or a bio-collagen stimulator into the penis, plumping up the tissue and making the penis look bigger and thicker.

  1. Surgical penis enlargement – in which we perform an advanced surgical procedure, increasing penile length by up to 2.5 inches and penile girth by up to 6cm.

Our team of dedicated surgeons and doctors are amongst the very best in their field. With over 35 years’ combined experience, they recognise the size of a typical fully-grown penis – and can advise on whether penis enlargement is a necessary or beneficial option for you.
