At Moorgate Andrology, patient safety and well-being are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we're applauding the UK Government’s latest commitment to regulating the cosmetics industry and putting an end to the era of “cosmetic cowboys.” As we've seen in the Andrology industry, many unregulated or poorly trained practitioners can cause lasting harm through unsafe procedures.
Rising to the Call for Reform
The Department of Health and Social Care’s announcement outlines much-needed protections:
- High-risk procedures, such as non-surgical Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBLs), will now be performed exclusively by qualified healthcare professionals in CQC-registered facilities.
- Lower-risk treatments - including Botox, fillers, and dermal fillers -will enter a local authority licensing system with stringent requirements around training, insurance, and safety standards.
- There will be age restrictions for under‑18s, requiring medical approval for high‑risk procedures.
What This Means for Patients and Providers
This regulatory shift is a pivotal step toward reinforcing professionalism and elevating standards across the aesthetics and private health sector.
It offers:
- Clear assurances that only appropriately trained professionals deliver procedures.
- A safer environment, with documented and regulated premises, with oversight and accountability.
- Stronger public confidence and reduced risk of harm from unsafe practices.
Our Commitment at Moorgate Andrology
We have always held ourselves to the highest standards of care, and these reforms reinforce what we already stand for:
- Every procedure at Moorgate is performed by a GMC-registered Urologist, following strict clinical protocols.
- Every surgery is performed in fully accredited Clinics.
- Full aftercare- our commitment to our patients doesn't end when they walk out the door.
- We are committed to transparency, thorough training, and patient education, ensuring patients make fully informed choices.
How You Can Keep Safe
In the meantime, while new regulations are being finalised, it’s crucial that patients take proactive steps to protect their health and safety.
Always ensure your practitioner is fully qualified and GMC-registered, and that surgeries are carried out in a CQC-registered medical facility. Don’t be afraid to ask about a clinic’s credentials, surgical experience, and aftercare policies.
At Moorgate Andrology, we welcome these changes because we believe patients deserve transparency, professionalism, and the highest standard of care from day one.
