Peyronies disease develops when fibrous scar tissue forms within the tunica of the penis. The exact cause is not always clear but several factors may contribute

Possible causes

These may incoude:

Injury or trauma to the penis, sometimes through sexual activity when the penis when was suddenly bent.

Abnormal healing response to injury

Genetic factors

Development of the plaque

Scar tissue forms which causes the penis to bend on erection. There may also be a narrowing of the penis , known as the hour-glass deformity. These changes can result in significant curvature of the penis , in some cases sexual intercourse is impossible.

Individual variation

Not all men who experience penile injury will go on to develop the disease. This suggests there are multiple contributing factors

Consultation

If you think you may have peyronies disease it would be a good first step to arrange a consultation with a qualified Urologist with experience in this disease.  You may require o peyronies disease surgery or treatment for peyronies disase without surgery
