Why choose a circumcision?
Many Urologists believe that there are advantages to having your penis circumcised as an adult.
Some of these reasons include:
- 1. You may find your penis much easier to wash around the head. To clean effectively you need to retract the foreskin over the head. If you have pain on retraction of the foreskin (phimosis) this can be difficult.
- 2. Doctors report that there may be a reduced risk of sexually transmitted diseases in men who have been circumcised. It is very important however that you practice safe sex initiatives after a circumcision.
- 3. Reduced risk of penile cancer.
- 4. Reduced sensitivity in the penis head may result in a longer sexual performance.

When will things return to normal?
Just after getting circumcised your penis will feel sore, this is perfectly normal and this soreness may last for around seven to ten days. You may resume sexual activities after around four to six weeks. Your Urologist will confirm when you can resume sexual activities. Don’t worry if you experience nocturnal erections but leave them to subside on their own.
Following your circumcision procedure the Surgeon may prescribe antibiotics to help prevent infection. Make sure that you complete the course of antibiotics, even if you feel better sooner than you thought. It may help to keep the penis upright within your underwear. Some men prefer to wear snug underwear whereas some men do better with loose fitting boxer shorts. Try and avoid strenuous exercise for around one month, this is especially true of contact sports.
