First Steps

Moorgate Andrology |Experts in Male Cosmetic Surgery
Taking the first steps starting male genital surgery procedures can be quite daunting, we know this because that is what many of our patients tell us. Making that first call, or sending that first email, can take a lot of courage. When you take that first step what happens next?

Here is an overview of the first steps of surgery to give you an idea of what lies ahead and how we try and make the whole experience of starting male genital surgery as easy and as comfortable as we possibly can.

Step 1. Initial Consultation

After you have made that important call, you are going to want to get some basic information. There is a lot of information on the internet about starting male genital surgery, but this is the time when you are going to want to separate the facts from fiction.

We arrange an initial consultation for you with a trained Patient Co-ordinator. A Moorgate Patient Co-ordinator is there to help you and guide you through the whole process. They don’t stop doing that at the operation either; they are on hand for help and advice postoperatively too. They are not usually medically qualified, but this is not essential at this stage.

At the initial consultation, the Patient Co-ordinator will outline the basic journey of the procedure in which you are interested. They can give you information about a host of things, for example
-Moorgate Urologists and their experience and background
-The hospital in which you will have your procedure
-Arrangements you will need to make for your surgery (such as time off work etc)
-Costs including payment options
-Help with arranging finance
-Helping you to look at suitable dates for surgery

Step 2. Surgeon consultation and assessment

After the initial consultation, your Patient Co-ordinator will arrange for you to see the Specialist. This will be a consultation and medical assessment with the Surgeon who will carry out the procedure.

This is where everything is pretty much decided. It is your opportunity to ask those important questions too (tip, take a pad and pen with you to write down any key points)

The Surgeon will examine you and explain everything that you need to know about the procedure.

This consultation typically lasts half an hour to one hour, depending on the complexity of your case.

Step 3 Preoperative tests

Depending on the procedure you are having, the surgeon may request some tests to be carried out before your operation. Usually, these consist of blood tests and MRSA screening.  If other tests such as X-rays or ECG are required, you will be advised accordingly.

Step 4. The Paperwork

We have a dedicated Patient care department who are on hand to arrange everything for your surgery and ensure that all the relevant paperwork is completed. They also are a point of contact after the operation too. You will have the contact numbers for this department if you have any questions in between your check-ups

When all this is complete, you will be ready and prepared for your surgery. Remember that Moorgate Andrology has taken care of thousands of men for male surgery procedures. Our team work very hard to ensure a smooth a journey as possible and we are with you every step of the way from the time you are starting male genital surgery to the end.
