Do penile implants work?

Penile implants are a very successful way of treating impotence, the inability to obtain or sustain an erection. They are a device that is implanted in a surgical procedure by a Urologist. There are two types of penile implant, a malleable implant and an inflatable implant. Both work extremely well but in different ways. The malleable implant is bent upwards or downwards depending on when you want an erection. The inflatable implant is pumped up by a pump located in the scrotum.

What are penile implants for?

Penile implants are used to treat erectile dysfunction. They are usually the choice for men who have tried other forms or treatment, such as oral medication or injections. When these treatments no longer work, an implant is usually the preferred option. They artificially create an erection strong enough for sexual intercourse. The implants are available in an inflatable or malleable format. Both achieve the same result.

What penile implants do Moorgate offer?

Moorgate offers both types of penile implant, the malleable and inflatable implant. Your choice of implant will depend on your own personal preferences. The malleable implant is easy to use, you just bend the penis up or down when you want an erection. The inflatable implant is pumped up whenever you want an erection. The inflatable gives the most natural look to the penis when it is not erect although older men with less dexterity may prefer the malleable implant.

Are penile implants worth it?

Penile implants can be a very successful way of treating impotence, especially when other methods have failed. They are expensive as it is a surgical procedure, but it could spell the end of impotence for the person. Sometimes patients have little choice if all other methods of treating their impotence have failed. They are often become the last resort and in these cases a penile implant operation can be very worthwhile.

How do penile implants work?

There are two types of penile implant, malleable and inflatable implants. The malleable implant is a device that is implanted into the penis. This effectively makes the penis always erect. When you want to have sexual intercourse you simply bend the penis upwards. When sex has finished you simply bend the penis downwards again. Inflatable implants are also completely hidden in the body. These are inflated by the patient by pumping a tiny pump within the scrotum. This inflates two chambers within the penis shaft which effectively pumps up the penis. When sex has finished you simply deflate the implant back to a flaccid position.
