How long after Gynaecomstia surgery do I see results?

Gynaecomstia surgery

Gynaecomastia surgery can give men the body confidence they need. Gynaecomastia is an overproduction of male breast tissue, which gives the appearance of breasts, also known as “moobs”. Men suffering from the condition will feel uncomfortable when in social situations, like going to the beach or pool. Making sure there is an effective treatment for this is very important.

How is it treated?

Gynecomastia surgery is a very common operation that’s performed thousands of times every year usually by plastic surgeons or consultant breast surgeons. It’s an operation that takes around an hour and is performed under general anaesthetic. In most cases, you will be able to go home on the same day.

Does Gynaecomstia surgery work?

After this operation, you will need to take a little bit of time off work. You should notice some bruising and swelling following the surgery, this is completely normal. It does settle down and heal but can take up to 6 weeks to do so, but the reality is that you’ll probably see results much quicker than that.

For a period of time after Gynaecomstia surgery, you will have to wear strapping on the chest. When you have this removed, you‘ll see immediate results but it can take some weeks or even months for all the swelling to settle down.

Surgery process

The procedure itself is usually performed with liposuction to remove excess fatty tissues and together with the removal of the gland. In some cases, liposuction may be all that is required depending on the severity. The best thing to do is to arrange a consultation with a plastic surgeon or a consultant breast surgeon to make sure that you’re getting the best advice and the right procedure for you.
