What is Incontinence?

Incontinence can occur in men of all ages from young to adulthood. Incontinence is defined as the process of involuntary leakage of urine and male urinary incontinence is usually caused by damage to the sphincter or an improperly functioning bladder.

What are the Available Treatment Options?

The most popular option is the urinary incontinence pants. There is a great range of urinary incontinence pants available to a patient, and if you require them you simply have to go to a chemist and buy them over the counter, this is the first resolution that men have available to them.

The next resolution that we will discuss is a penile clamp, now a penile clamp is a very simple clamp that you can get on the shaft of your penis, and this one can be used occasionally, just make sure to avoid using it during the night time. But this is perfect for if you are going for a long walk or going for an event and you would like to reduce the urinary incontinence. This is a very effective solution for a lot of men, but it is also quite a disturbing one for men.

Now, on to the third option. Moorgate Andrology offer an artificial sphincter. This option is probably not for everyone as a lot of other options are personalised and individualised. But if you are interested in this option, then you are more than welcome to come into one of our clinics and we will discuss with you whether this option is the best option for you.

We hope this blog has been informative on the range of options you have available to you to help treat your urinary incontinence. Please make sure to get in touch with us to discuss your options.
